BIM.permit is the Highest-Rated Model Checking Software for Digital Building Permits

Bochum, February 16, 2026 – The BIM model checking software BIM.permit achieved the highest overall rating in the diploma thesis “Evaluation of Verification Applications for Use in OpenBIM Approval Procedures” by Leo Gaishofer among the applications examined.

As part of the scientific study conducted at the Vienna University of Technology, a total of eleven applications were analyzed regarding their suitability for digital openBIM approval processes. The evaluation considered, among other criteria, data standards, user-friendliness, data protection, operational options, modifiability, and the functional scope of model checking.

With 6.8 out of 10 points, BIM.permit achieved the highest overall score among the evaluated solutions, positioning itself as the best-rated application in the study. Particularly positive assessments were given in the areas of model pre-checking, model checking, and modifiability.

The results of the scientific investigation underline the strong position of BIM.permit in the field of digital openBIM approval and model checking processes, as well as the growing importance of interoperable and practice-oriented software solutions for the digitalization of construction workflows.
